Real Betis are determined to strengthen their squad and go all out in the second half of the season in order to gain promotion back to the Primera and will Portillo now signed, they’ve reportedly set their sights on former Athletic Club Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta.
Real Betis sporting director Alexis Trujillo presented Francisco Portillo on Monday and went on to add that their priority was to now add a centre-back that “isn’t playing but has experience in the Primera.”
According to Radio Marca and confirmed by El Desmarque, one of the players in mind is Fernando Amorebieta, who is no longer considered a starter with Fulham in the Championship Division and could come in a cut-rate deal.
Amorebieta joined Fulham on a free transfer in the summer of 2013 after spending eight seasons with Athletic Club Bilbao but after starting weeks 7 through 11 of this season, the Venezuelan international has only seen 44 minutes of action, which came in week 16.
There is no word on who Real Betis prefer, but Amorebieta is certainly the most attainable.
