  • Osvaldo excited by Real Betis interest

Darío Decoud, the agent of Italian international forward Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, admits that he’s been in contact with Real Betis and the 29-year-old is interested in returning to Spain.

On July 1st, Southampton announced the termination of Osvaldo’s contract, after the Argentine-born goal-scorer was sent out on three different loan spells to Juventus, Inter and most recently Boca Juniors in his two seasons with the club.

Osvaldo has most recently been linked with a move to Mexican side Cruz Azul, but Decoud admits to AS that the signing could be put on hold due to recent interest shown by Real Betis at the request of manager Pepe Mel.

“The sporting director called me to tell me they were interested, that manager Pepe Mel likes the player. There has been no concrete offer, but it’s clear that they are a great organisation and Daniel, who had great success there, would love to return to Spain.”

Decoud also stressed that reports stating that Osvaldo had already undergone a medical with Cruz Azul were completely false and that the striker remains in Argentina.

“That’s false. Daniel is in Argentina. There was an offer we didn’t accept and we’re awaiting another. There are many clubs interested, of course.”

Osvaldo rose to prominence with Espanyol, where he scored 20 goals in 44 La Liga appearances during his year-and-a-half with the Catalan side before making a €15 million move to Roma.
