Real Betis have opened talks with Nabil Fekir over a new contract, with the Frenchman’s current deal due to expire summer 2023. After moving to the Benito Villamarín in 2019, making 79 appearances - Fekir is reportedly very happy and comfortable in Seville
There’s a huge sense of optimism around his desire to stay at Betis. When he joined the club in 2019, most figured it was a tactical short-term move to put him in the shop window of bigger teams, but he’s found a home.

Real Betis have already begun talks with Nabil Fekir over a new contract.
Fekir has been excellent forBetis since his arrival in 2019, but he has found consistency, in particular, across the course of last season and this season so far.
The Frenchman has helped Betis start this season impressively, losing just one of their first seven games – eight if you include their Europa League win over Celtic .
But with less than two years remaining on his contract, Betis fans can be forgiven for feeling a little nervous, especially given some of the interest the midfielder has attracted in the past.
The 28-year-old saw a move to Liverpool fall through at the last minute before joining Betis, after all.
But club president Ángel Haro has confirmed talks are now ongoing over a new contract.
“He is doing magnificently well. He is a champion of the world with tremendous quality,” he told Marca. “When you see him move with the ball, glued to his foot, you know he is going to do something genius.
“We have an obligation with every player that is in the window with two years of contract to monitor, to see – if there is interest – the options to continue.
“He is a magnificent player. We are starting to talk. Each time we speak with him, he is very happy here and there is a positive predisposition.”
That’s a wise decision from Betis, with Fekir very much an attractive talent at the moment given his form and the fact he is now in the prime years of his career.
Failure to agree a new deal would likely force the Andalusians to sell their star midfielder next summer, so it’s understandable that they are desperate to avoid that fate.

Real Betis star Nabil Fekir remains vague over his future amid a concerning contract situation.
Fekir is unquestionably Betis‘ star man amid a solid start to the season for Manuel Pellegrini's men.
Betis again find themselves in the midst of the European places, and they are also on course to progress in the Europa League.
But one thing they do need to address is Fekir’s contract situation, the forward’s current deal is set to expire in 2023.
And while that gives Betis some time, if they don’t tie him down by next summer, they will likely have to sell given the player’s value and the fact he would be able to agree a free deal from the following January.
In the meantime, Fekir has been asked about his future and whether he will renew at Betis.
Asked for an update, he told Marca “No…like everyone knows, I am fine at Betis and we are going to see what happens.”
Fekir was also asked whether qualifying for Europe would be instrumental in the decision.
He replied: “No, all the players want to be in European competition, but it’s not something that is going to influence it.”

It's a good morning for Betis fans
Real Betis are set to tie down their star man to a new long-term contract.
Nabil Fekir has been excellent for Betis since arriving on a cut-price €20m deal from Lyon in 2019.
But his good form has seen him linked with a move away in recent months, the attack-minded midfielder already recognised at a top talent, almost completing a move to Liverpool during his Lyon days.
As things stand, Fekir is only under contract until 2023, and with that in mind, Betis have been seeking a renewal.
And it seems they have got their way with Canal Sur via Mundo Deportivo reporting a deal has been closed.
Fekir is set to sign a deal up until 2025, and it’s likely his release clause will l also be raised as part of the deal.
The Frenchman has been key to Betis’ solid start to this season, scoring three times and assisting four.
Betis are currently fifth in the table and already through to the next stage of the Europa League.
