Re: Juan Carlos Ollero, the new president of Real Betis

The club have announced that Juan Carlos Ollero is to be the new president - an appointment that has been broadly welcomed. Ollero does at least have some relevant experience, fulfilling the same role for the city's basketball side for eight years, during which time he guided them through a turbulent period and eventually helped establish the club in Spain's top division (one of the best in Europe).
He's also thought to be a supporter of Pepe Mel, whose representative has been in talks with the club today. The ex coach is said to be driving a hard bargain - hell, wouldn't you? - but his wish list is reportedly more about his role within the club than hard cash. No doubt there'll be more news later.
